Coming to the Museum
Your field trip at Fairview can either be self-guided or guided.
Visit the Museum
We recommend that you visit the site beforehand to help you decide what you want your students to see and learn as well as get a feel for the property.
Field Trip Registration
Please download a copy of our form here (Coming soon!) or fill out the form online. Our Coordinator will then contact you to confirm a date and finalize your program’s design.
Station offerings vary based on availability of volunteers and participating organizations. We will do our best to accommodate your requests for some stations.
Fairview is an outdoor living history museum, therefore, it is important that students dress for the current weather.
Field trips may need to be rescheduled based on weather conditions.
Fairview welcomes groups to picnic on the property. Two picnic tables are available, as well as benches on the cabin’s back porch.
Fairview is located near Exit 19 of Interstate 81 in Abingdon. Restaurants at this exit include Cracker Barrel, Wendy’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, Dairy Queen, the Harbor House, & Dunk n’ Deli.
Fairview staff recommends one chaperone per five pre K-2nd grade students and one chaperone for every 10 students above third grade. This is to ensure safety and accessibility to small exhibits.
You will receive a confirmation via e-mail including the schedule for your planned visit. Please review this carefully and contact Fairview to make any necessary changes before arrival.
