Fairview announces several exciting programs and events for July 2016. On Fridays and Saturdays, Looney will be attired in period costume from the early nineteenth century, and at 10 a.m. will read a children’s story.
On July 21, 22, and 23, the Old Glade Antique Tractor Association will hold their ninth annual summer show on the Fairview property. The show will include antique tractors and farm equipment, small engines, and pedal tractors. Threshing and horse drawn equipment demonstrations will also take place. The Fairview cabin will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the tractor show, with demonstrations of traditional arts and crafts including quilt piecing, sewing, knitting, the lucet, and twining.
On July 30, the Fairview Foundation will host the “Cars Under the Stars” car show at Latture Field in Abingdon to raise money for projects on the Fairview property. Dash plaques will be given to the first fifty participants, and trophies will be awarded. Food will also be available. Latture Field is located behind the Abingdon Police Department. Gates will open at 4 p.m. for cars, with a $15 entry fee per car. The show begins at 5 p.m. Admission is $2, with children under the age of 12 admitted for free.
